What kind of Pagans we want to be?

I have followed  on Orkut and some mailing lists  a situation that seems quite worrying. It seems that many of us have not yet achieved something crucial in the way of a Witch: spiritual maturity. It's sad to watch the flame wars ego, aggression with no sense, lack of respect for the work of other Wizards, boring and endless questions about the validity of the initiation of this or that Wizard, cluelessness of many who approach the art as if it were a fad, a "lifestyle" or a mere collection of spells to get a boyfriend (girlfriend), for prosperity, etc.. Without spiritual commitment NO spell is valid! And without due respect for the work of other Wizards, however much we may disagree with some things they do or say, we're in a serious risk, namely, to become exactly what we condemn: fundamentalist zealots and bigots! Is what the Paganism that we want? Certainly NOT! Traditions have a crucial importance for the Craft, after all, without them you certainly would not even have the opportunity to be a solitary practitioner and this blog would not exist, but the spirituality of solitary practitioners is equally valid and can not be treated as a toy, nor shall it be loners with no support in their research. The path of solitary practitioner is much more difficult than that of a member of a Tradition of the Craft, because he usually has no one to give him guidance and serious teachings.

Unfortunately  there are a lot of misrepresentation about the Craft available on the Internet and in books that not even worth mentioning here, because the goal of this blog and the future site is another: to raise awareness of the practitioners to do their studies and practices seriously, devotion to the Gods and respect for differences. How can we be taken seriously by people who do not know art if instead of taking care of our spirituality stay fighting like fanatics claiming that our tradition is the only correct and that the others are all frauds? In my opinion, as the Dedicated of the O'Reilly Tradition, the greatest achievement of a Witch is not the initiation but self-knowledge and emotional and energetic balance. A formal initiation is important of course, but it should be a consequence and not a goal to be pursued obsessively. Indeed, what advantage in an initiation if the Witch not have emotional and energetic balance?
Seek for balance, wisdom, tolerance and understanding towards all, especially to those who follow the art in a way different from ours.

May we all be blessed with discernment, may the Ancients make us see that those who are sincere in their search will not fail to find the Great Mystery within theirselves!
Peace and excuse me for my awful English ;)
